Voice of the Day: C.S. Lewis

by John Collins on September 18, 2010

Via Sojourners:

I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it, I see everything else.

by John Collins on September 13, 2010

I’m off to my grandma Ocie’s near Tribune, KS. I won’t be posting until Saturday because: 1. I’m trying to take some time off and 2. grandma doesn’t have internet access. Jenny will remain in town and will be available.

Update: Grandma Ocie and I are in Westcliffe, CO, still no readily available internet access.

Voice of the Day: Muhammad Musri

by John Collins on September 10, 2010

“We came to have a peaceful conversation with the pastor, to hear his grievance, to ask him to follow his own Scripture about his enemies,” Musri told reporters. “His Scripture teaches him to love his enemies.”

— Imam Muhammad Musri, president of the Islamic Society of Central Florida. Quoted by USA Today after meeting with Pastor Terry Jones whose church had previously scheduled a Koran burning tomorrow.

It seems that the possibility of a Koran burning, and thus the danger to U.S. troops has passed, but I raise this issue because I think it illustrates one of the “problems” that Christians face. We have been so dominant in our culture that even most non-Christians, at least most non-Chritians in the United States, are familiar enough with Jesus to recognize when we fail to follow his teachings and example.
